A few days ago I saw the Jenny Lewis show at the Plaza Theater. It was awesome concert. She started off with a version of Silver Lining that was just the sweetest version i’ve ever heard. Show could’ve ended right their for me. Someone right in front of me was shooting it…and here it is…thanks to YouTube.

My friend Mike Bekemeyer is doing a podcast called 60 Seconds of Life. It’s a pretty cool documentary series about his family…or whatever gets in the way of his camera. I was fooling around with some pictures after watching his series….this is what came out of it.

West Coast Style, a really great pet-project of mine, has launched a new website. They’re mountain bike training material is top notch. If you want to learn more about how to ride safer, or just want to learn some good tricks of the trade they’ve got the material to do it.

Their new angle on things is a digital distribution model. Selling eBooks and Quicktime videos that focus in on specific training skills. All the video material is available now. And the eBooks will be released every couple of weeks for the next year. You can get your hands on “The Basics - Part 1” a good introduction for bikers of any kind.

Or you can buy a combination of the eBook and complimentary training video for a discount. The videos are compatible with your ipod or iphone…or you can watch them on any computer. The ebooks are PDF files you can print out or any PDF compatible reader, like an iPhone or Amazon Kindle.

10 years ago Morris Turner died. He was a friend. An actor. And a fellow creative. I’m still in the middle of the edit. I found this one frame in the archival footage. Thought it was interesting with it’s date time stamp.

No Line On The Horizon Leaked

I’ve always been interested in the DRM saga of music. I’ll probably re-publish a few of the entries I wrote for the Element 113 blog. I definitely don’t support the stealing of music, but having an online database of music files to access has a lot of advantages. For instance, I bought the Shins album ”Oh Inverted World” on iTunes a few years back. The files were never quite right. They were corrupt somehow. And iTunes always saw them as “unknown artist” files. And it would duplicate the files when I did an iTuens sync. There was just something wrong with them…So I went to the torrents and re-downloaded the album. Deleted the officially bought version, with a version that worked. I’ve had to do that with a few other purchased albums that got corrupt.

Now we’ve got U2’s No Line On The Horizon leaked to the world a good month before the official release. Let’s see how long the links stay valid.

What does this mean for the music business. Is this a violation of the trust that consumers will “do the right thing?” Or will just download the album and tell all there friends, “don’t buy it, you can get it free here”? I don’t know. But I did download it. However I also pre-bought the deluxe version on iTunes a few weeks ago. So I guess I did both.
